Adidas Yeezy 700 V3 Azareth Review
Say what you want
about Yeezus aka Kanye West, but the dude knows how to make sneakers. What's up
everybody, this is ibrewkicks and today we are reviewing one of the most
anticipated yeezy sneakers of 2020, Yeezy 700 V3 Azareth. This is a color that
we've never seen on a pair of yeezys before 2020, I guess this is the silver
lining for this god forsaken year. I honestly feel
like this is a new leaf for Kanye. Kanye, has been dropping one news bite after
another in 2020. Feels like Yeezus is turning a page and splashing some beautiful
colors and I love it. I'm so glad that we finally have some saturation on a
pair of Yeezys so the Azereth is the third Adidas Yeezy 700 v3 Colorway and I've
got to say it's definitely the brightest of all three. Now I usually complain about
Yeezy colorways and how they're all like earth tones or like really subtle
shades of green but I'm really excited that they finally decided to change
things up and give this shoe a really bright blue. What I don’t get is why they
decided to do it on a pair of 700 v3’s before a pair of 350’s.
What does Azareth Mean?
As you probably
guessed from the sort of odd name that this sneaker has i.e. Azereth, Kanye has
decided to continue his biblical naming scheme on this pair of Yeezys. I'd like
to say that I am not familiar with biblical names in general, however, I've
never heard this word before. So here’s what a quick google search popped up
about the name of these sneakers. So apparently “Azerath” is derived from a
hebrew word that means “those set apart” and you can sort of pull whatever
meaning you want from that, but I do think it's interesting that this shoe is sort
of set apart from all the other Yeezys because it's so bright and colorful.
What’s in the boxxx?
Before we
actually dive into the review itself let's take a look at the retail packaging.
So the box itself is pretty similar to pretty much all the other Yeezy boxes
over the last two or three years. It comes in natural cardboard with this sort
of dark brown printing on the top that says 700. You've got similar printing on
both ends of the box and what's interesting is these sort of dark brown printed
areas there's no mention of the fact that this shoe is a v3. It does say
however that these are a v3 on the size tag and the official colorway of this
shoe is azerath. However, they could not fit the word azerath on the tag, so
they just say azer.
Yeezy 700 V3 Azareth Review:
Starting off from the toe you've got this thin light tan rubber panel that makes up the toe cap. The shape of this panel is a nice little callback to the suede panel that you find on the toes of 700 v1’s while the 700 v3’s don't look that similar to the 700v1’s. There are little call outs throughout the shoe that help you know that this shoe is still part of the same silhouette family. You also start to get to some of that bright blue material around the mid foot of the shoe which is actually monofilament engineered mesh. I've no idea what that means but that's what it's called. The mesh is pretty thin and relatively breathable but it's not as soft as something like primeknit, however, this sort of midfoot cage kind of prevents it from being really soft at all. As you can see along the side of the sneaker you've got this really interesting sort of organic tan and white patterns woven into the mesh.
These patterns are the same patterns that have
been used on previous 700 v3s, however, against this blue backdrop they really
have a nice contrast and pop a lot more. On top of the mesh you get to one of
my favorite details on the entire shoe and that's this very skeletal looking
RPU overlay. This RPU almost acts as an exoskeleton on the shoe it gives the
shoe its shape. It definitely contains your foot which I appreciate but my
favorite part of the RPU and i'm pretty sure this is everyone's favorite part. Best part, it actually glows in the dark.
Moving around to
the tongue you've got this black textile material covering up a majority of it
and you've also got these sort of inexplicable 3m accents which I don't understand
why they're there. I guess that's why they're inexplicable. It's weird because
the only time you can actually see these accents is when you look down on the
shoe. They don't provide any safety functionality. They don't even really provide
any accenting at least not to people looking at your shoes. They really just
seem like a special treat the wearer and that's it. The tongue itself isn't
actually its own separate tongue and is instead part of a one-piece bootie
construction which in some ways is good because once you get the shoe on, it's
not coming off but in other ways it's bad because once you get the shoe on it's
not coming off.
Weaving over the
top of the tongue you've got these black laces and what's interesting about this
lacing system is that unlike previous Yeezy 700, these v3’s are actually part
of this sort of infinity loop system and have no ends or at least they're
stitched together underneath, so you can't actually take them off the shoe. However,
if you don't like this lace setup, adidas was kind enough to actually provide a
separate pair of black laces that are standard they got your standard lace tips
and everything. So if you want to switch these out you can but you have to cut
these laces in order to get them off so essentially you're destroying them. Personally
I'm not going to switch these laces out because it seems like too much of a hassle.
Around the top of the ankle area this booty construction continues and because it's
in black it creates this nice contrast with the RPU and the blue mesh.
Moving inside
the shoe you've got a nicely padded black sock liner as well as these little
cutouts for your ankle area which actually makes this ankle portion of the shoe
surprisingly comfortable. Then rounding off the inside of the shoe you've got
this black ortholite insole that has the “Ortholite Yeezy” and “Adidas” branding
printed on the heel in white. Moving down on
the sneaker you get to this sculpted off-white PU encapsulated midsole. This PU
material is pretty stiff and actually encapsulates the foam cushioning
underneath and you can actually see the bright yellow eva foam through the
outsole. The eva foam actually changes color depending on which 700 v3 colorway
that you're looking at and I think they did that on purpose.
I just thought it was
kind of an interesting detail embossed on the heel of the midsole you've got
the adidas sportswear logo and then finally moving to the bottom of the sneaker
you've got this semi-translucent yellow or creamish colored rubber. The Adidas Yeezy
700 V3 Azerath is a solid sneaker and I love this colorway. I actually think
the 700 v3s are becoming like my second favorite pair of yeezys overall as I
love the aesthetics. I love the overall look of the shoe and i think this blue
color is pure supa hot fire. Do I miss the boost from the 700 V1’s and V2’s? Absolutely.
But I love these V3’s to death.
Fit of Yeezy 700 V3 Azareth:
If you love a
snug fit then be sure go true to size but I have to say it's really snug. What I
would suggest personally is going up half size if you have narrow feet and
going up a full size if you have wider feet. Let's be honest on release day
whatever size you can grab is probably the right size but if you have the
option I would at least go up a half size and possibly even go a whole size if
you feel like it.
Yeezy 700 V3 Azareth launch details:
I think this is one of the best Yeezys to drop all year. The Adidas Yeezy 700 V3 Azerath dropped August 29th 2020 for a retail price of 200 Us Dollars. This was no easy cop and most prospective buyers ended up getting big “L”, infact I had to pay double the price to buy this pair for myself. I think wherever it will go on sale, it's not going to be easy to get making it one of the more difficult Yeezys to grab. Though you have to appreciate that they're giving us more ways to actually go out and grab this shoe rather than just limiting it to their website and their app. However, if you're one of those people who want to grab a pair of these at any cost or don’t mind to grab a pair at resale prices. I will leave a link to goat.com in the first comment down below.
And that’s about
it. I would love to know your thoughts on this shoe and just the entire
collection as a whole so let me know in the comment section down below and as
always thank you so much for reading this blog.
